The Lord is My Shepard
Psalms 23
Christopher A. Bradley
The LORD is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD
Forever.

How wonderful it is to have the Lord as our Shepard. The responsibility of the shepard is to feed, protect, and comfort his sheep. As the Lord’s sheep we need to take note of how great it is to be in the fold. He was born to set us free from the captivity of sin. He was born to give us victory over death. As the Lord’s sheep it is imperative that we follow Him constantly, never staying from His protection and always obeying His commands.

When we obey His command and follow Him, He leads us to a place of safety, bountiful blessings, and most importantly eternal rest. Keep in mind that His goodness and mercy follows us as we follow Him. There are many things that we say that we do not mean literally, but we say them figuratively. A phase like “you are so silly” is often used in a humorous manner. However, the one declaration we should make today and forever more is that “Lord is my Shepard”.

Make it known to the world that the Lord is the only Shepard in your life an He will make you known before His Father in heaven.
